Sordin Supreme MIL CC – active communication hearing protection with Nexus TP120
If you use radio, a normal active hearing protector is no longer enough. The Sordin Supreme MIL CC is designed for users who need protection, situational awareness, and wired communication all in one headset.
The CC version combines active perception with boom microphone and Nexus TP120 connection. This is not a comfort gimmick but makes sense when commands, radio, and gunfire noise must be managed simultaneously.
Why exactly this model?
✔ MIL-CC version with boom microphone
✔ Nexus TP120 / U-174 communication interface
✔ RFI protection and robust MIL platform according to manufacturer/dealer info
✔ Waterproof microphones / robust electronics depending on MIL version
✔ Level-dependent ambient amplification
✔ Slim ear cups for rifle cheek weld
✔ Radio communication and situational awareness can be used separately
Why this product?
The Supreme MIL CC makes sense if your hearing protection is part of a communication system – not just noise protection.
You can use radio communication in loud environments
You keep situational awareness and commands
The boom microphone is designed for clear voice transmission
The Nexus interface fits professional PTT/radio setups
You get a more robust operational logic than with the civilian Pro-X
MIL/Comms headset vs. normal active hearing protection
❌ Normal active hearing protection: hear surroundings and dampen shots ✔ MIL/Comms headset: additionally designed for radio/audio integration, RFI protection, and robust operational logic This only pays off if communication, helmet, or professional use is really part of your setup.
Instructor tip: test radio dry first
Test PTT, plug wiring, radio, and microphone position before the range.
A communication hearing protector is only better if speech is reliably transmitted and the hearing protection still seals properly.
Key features
Active communication hearing protection
Nexus TP120 connection for compatible PTT/radio solutions
Boom microphone for voice transmission
RFI protection according to MIL platform info
SNR 26 dB according to multiple MIL-CC data sources for headband version
Level-dependent ambient amplification
Protection and communication in one system
Color variants: green, black, beige depending on selection
Our assessment
The Supreme MIL CC is not a better Pro-X for everyone. It is a specialist for users who really use radio integration.
If you only hunt or shoot static on the range, a Pro-X or X2 is often more sensible. But if you need PTT, radio, and clear voice transmission, this is exactly where the added value begins.
Important: The Nexus plug alone does not guarantee compatibility. PTT and radio must fit electrically and mechanically.
Suitable for
Professional users: when radio communication is part of the setup
Range/instructor teams: when clear commands and protection are needed simultaneously
Tactical training: when Nexus/PTT systems are used
Rifle users: due to slim ear cup design
Not suitable for:
n
Normal sports shooters without radio needs
Hunters who only want to hear the surroundings – Pro-X/X2 is often more economical for this
Users without suitable PTT/radio infrastructure
Important note
Radio/Nexus/AUX compatibility depends on PTT, plug assignment, radio, and system configuration. Always check technically before use.
Hearing protection effectiveness also depends on fit. Helmet straps, glasses, cables, neckbands, and padding must not lift the ear cup.
Gel cushions, glasses, and sealing – why this is crucial
The best electronics are of little use if the hearing protection does not seal properly. Shooting glasses, safety glasses, or thin temples quickly create a small gap between the cushion and the head.
Standard cushions: work but press faster and react more sensitively to glasses temples.
Gel cushions: adapt better to head shape and glasses temples.
Practical result: less sound leakage, fewer pressure points, longer wearing time.
Instructor tip: after putting on, feel around the ear cup once – if a glasses temple visibly lifts the seal, you lose protection.
For glasses wearers and frequent shooters, gel cushions are almost never just comfort. They are often the difference between "fits somehow" and truly effective sealing.
Features & operation
Active ambient amplification: important sounds remain audible while impulses are reduced.
Communication: depending on model via Nexus TP120, AUX, or Flex-Com solution.
Microphone position: position boom microphone close enough to the mouth but not directly in the breath stream.
Directional hearing: ear cups must fit correctly – twisted or poorly fitting cups worsen perception.
Proper classification of Nexus TP120
The Nexus plug is not a universal phone connector. It is intended for professional PTT/radio solutions.
Headset: provides hearing protection, ambient awareness, and microphone.
PTT: connects headset and radio and must be wired correctly.
Radio: must be compatible with PTT and plug standard.
Instructor practice: perform voice test, PTT test, and battery check before course start.

FAQ
What does CC mean?
CC here stands for the communication version with boom microphone and wired radio connection.
Does Nexus TP120 fit every radio?
No. You need a suitable PTT and the correct plug assignment for your radio.
Is MIL CC better than Pro-X?
Not generally. It is better if you need radio/comms. Without radio needs, Pro-X/X2 is often more sensible.
Can I shoot normally with it?
Yes, but the system is designed for communication and is therefore more expensive and complex than pure range hearing protection.
Do I have to watch out for gel cushions with glasses?
Yes. Even with MIL headsets, the seal at the glasses temple determines protection.
Especially with Sordin MIL hearing protection, communication hearing protection, and active hearing protection for duty and range, the right system choice determines protection, communication, and wearing comfort.
