NEXTORCH TA30C MAX · 3,000 Lumens · 21700
A dark driveway, a few seconds to get oriented – and the flashlight has to deliver exactly what you need without mode searching.
The TA30C MAX combines a long-range 38mm head with direct momentary light, instant strobe, and three fixed continuous light levels. This is a tactical flashlight for controlled operation and power reserve, not the most discreet pocket solution.
Check mission profile
Our honest assessment
The TA30C MAX is the larger 21700 variant within the TA30 family. Its benefit comes not only from 3,000 lumens but from the control logic: You select Low, Medium, High, or continuous Strobe on the magnetic rotating ring. The two-stage tail switch overrides the preset for immediate momentary light or strobe.
The price for this: 153 mm length, 38 mm head diameter, and 153 g without battery make it noticeably bigger than the more compact TA30C. Also, the stated High runtime is not a promise for a constant 3,000 lumens output. Independent tests show temperature-related step-down – normal for a high-performance flashlight but important for your purchase decision.
Fits well if …
you want to quickly overview outdoor areas, driveways, or larger rooms,
momentary light and strobe should be accessible without cycling through modes,
a replaceable 21700 battery and USB-C direct charging fit your power concept,
you accept size and weight in favor of range and runtime reserve.
Fits less if …
you’re looking for the smallest possible EDC flashlight for your pocket,
you absolutely want to use CR123A batteries as an emergency reserve,
you expect 3,000 lumens over hours without dimming,
you need a weapon light with remote switch and fixed mount.
What the features mean in practice
Two-stage tail switch
Light press activates momentary light, full press activates strobe. This saves time but requires a consciously trained pressure point – especially with gloves.
Rotary ring instead of click sequence
70, 520, or 3,000 lumens plus constant strobe are preselected. So you don’t have to click through multiple modes in use.
38 mm head and 38,025 candela
The larger reflector produces more range than the more compact TA30C. 390 m is a standardized FL1 value, not a guaranteed identification distance.
21700 power platform
The included battery charges directly via USB-C. Depending on market or production batch, 4,800 or 5,000 mAh are specified; the actual battery label is decisive.
Trainer and user tips
Train the pressure point dry: Separate momentary light and strobe cleanly first without stress, then with gloves.
Don’t reflexively choose high: On bright walls, vehicle paint, glass, rain, or fog, 3,000 lumens can increase self-glare. 70 or 520 lumens are often more controllable.
Plan for dimming: An independent test measured about 2,810 lumens after 30 seconds, but about 830 lumens after ten minutes. High is a reserve, not a constant mode.
Insert battery correctly: Check polarity on the flashlight body and battery; don’t force it in. For replacement batteries, observe the manufacturer’s required form factor.
Check holster before duty use: Test draw path, locking, and unintended activation with full gear.
Performance with practical interpretation
High · 3,000 lm
390 m · 38,025 cd · Manufacturer runtime approx. 2 h 45 min. For maximum overview and range reserve; note temperature-dependent dimming.
Medium · 520 lm
160 m · 6,400 cd · approx. 5 h. The most balanced constant mode for many control, search, and patrol tasks.
Low · 70 lm
60 m · 900 cd · up to approx. 35 h. For close range, documents, gear, and situations with high backscatter.
Momentary light / strobe
Up to 3,000 lm directly via the tail switch. Quick access is an operational advantage – strobe does not replace distance or a solid operational concept.
Performance, range, and runtime values are manufacturer specs according to ANSI/PLATO FL1. Ambient temperature, battery, reflections, and eyesight affect practical usable output.
TA30C MAX or more compact TA30C?
TA30C MAX
3,000 lumens, 390 m, 21700 battery, 153 × 38 × 28 mm and 153 g without battery. The choice for more range and energy reserve.
TA30C / TA30CG
1,600 lumens, 303 m, 18650 or 2 × CR123A, 136 × 30 × 23 mm and 97 g without battery. More sensible if portability and dual-fuel are more important.

More Guidance and Retention
The NEXTORCH FR‑2 guidance ring is listed for TA30MAX, TA30CMAX, and P91.
Large Holster for the 38-mm Head
The NEXTORCH V55L holster is the appropriate size class; do not equate with narrower holsters.
Safety, Care, and Storage
Do not shine directly into eyes; strong reflections and strobe can cause disorientation.
High generates heat. Do not cover when switched on, enclose in pockets, or place on flammable materials.
Nano-ceramic elements on the lens crown can damage skin, glass, and sensitive surfaces.
Use only undamaged, suitable 21700 batteries and observe polarity.
Rinse with clean water after exposure to saltwater or corrosive substances, dry, and check seals.
Remove battery for long-term storage or store according to manufacturer instructions.
FAQ
Do 3,000 lumens remain constant for 2 hours 45 minutes? No. 3,000 lumens is the peak output. The stated time is a standardized total runtime; independent measurements show a significant temperature-related reduction.
What does the 390 meters range mean? This is the calculated FL1 range up to 0.25 lux at the target. Reliable detail recognition is significantly less depending on weather, contrast, and eyesight.
Can the TA30C MAX be operated with CR123A? No, it is designed for a 21700 battery. The more compact TA30C is the suitable alternative if 2 × CR123A as a reserve option are important.
Is the battery rated at 4,800 or 5,000 mAh? Both ratings are found in trade and manufacturer data. Therefore, no false uniformity is promised: the key is the labeling of the actually supplied 21700 battery.
Are FR‑2 and V55L included? Not with the standard product. They are only included if the offered variant is explicitly described as a Tactical Kit.
Is the TA30C MAX a weapon light? No. It is a handheld tactical light. For fixed weapon mounting, remote switch, and recoil load, a weapon light explicitly designed for that purpose is required.
