SCOM-38 Continental 2.5–15×56 SFP – 56-mm hunting scope with German-#4 reticle The SCOM-38 combines a wide 2.5–15× range with a 56-mm objective and second focal plane (SFP). The low magnification remains useful for overview, while 15× offers enough reserve for controlled shots and detailed work.
Black-Raptor classification: a hunting-oriented 30-mm scope for stand hunting, territory, and range. Don’t buy if you expect FFP holdover marks at every magnification – this model is SFP.

Fits well / fits less well

Fits well if … … 2.5× at the low end and 15× at the high end cover your real distance range.
… you prefer a 56-mm objective for hunting low-light situations.
… you want a classic German-#4 reticle in SFP.

Fits less well if … … you need an FFP reticle with proportional holdover marks at every magnification.
… you prioritize an ultralight or very compact setup.
… you require a MIL system instead of 1/4-MOA adjustment.

Practical effect of the key data

2.5–15× Wide hunting working range: more overview at the low end, more target and detail resolution at the high end.

56-mm objective Large entrance pupil for twilight applications; also requires appropriate mounting height.

100 mm eye relief Helps with proper head position; finalize mounting only in natural shooting position.

SFP / German #4 reticle remains optically the same size. This is classic and clear, but not the right choice for FFP-based holdover work.

Limits & avoiding bad purchases
ung

Shopify previously listed contradictory FFP and SFP. For the exact SKU SCOM-38, the official Vector-Optics specification confirms SFP. Also confirmed are 1/4 MOA per click and an adjustment range of 110 MOA.
Before mounting, check barrel diameter, height, objective clearance, and eye relief. After each mounting, check point of impact.

FAQ
Is the SCOM-38 FFP or SFP? SFP. The reticle is in the second focal plane. What click adjustment does it have? 1/4 MOA per click. What mount do I need? The optic has a 30 mm main tube. Also crucial are rail, objective clearance, height, and your eye relief. What use is 2.5–15×56 suitable for? Mainly for hunting and range, when overview at low magnification and additional detail reserve up to 15× are needed.
Black Raptor · Purchase decision
The SCOM-38 is a classic hunting SFP optic – not to be mistaken for an FFP tactical optic. Those deliberately looking for German #4, 56 mm, and MOA adjustment get a clear, coherent configuration.
