Open Multi-Reticle for Sport & Range
The start tone sounds – and you immediately need a clear, repeatable sight picture.
The Vector Optics SCRD-T64 Frenzy FLEX combines a large 19 × 28 mm window with six selectable reticle patterns, motion sensor, side battery compartment, and titanium housing. Its domain is the sporty handgun, dynamic training, and a finely tuned MOJ/RMR setup.
Compare suitable range optics
Our honest assessment
The SCRD-T64 is not an ordinary 3-MOA red dot. The current GenII titanium model offers six combinations of 3-MOA dot, 45-MOA circle, and 60-MOA cross. The large open window makes orientation easier during quick transitions; the small center remains for a clean aiming reference.
The decisive disadvantage lies in the open design: rain, snow, dust, or plant debris can affect the projection path between emitter and lens. For a weather-exposed hunting long gun, we therefore recommend a closed system at Black Raptor. We see the T64 mainly on the range and in sporty use.
Fits well if … you want a wide field of view, selectable reticles, side battery change, and a MOJ/RMR-compatible footprint for sport, IPSC-oriented training, or dynamic exercises.
Fits less if … you need a protected emitter for rain and foliage, optical magnification, a particularly small carry setup, or a clearly defined net weight specification.
What
the features in practice achieve
Six reticle patterns The 3-MOA dot prioritizes a steady aiming reference. Circle and cross are quicker to perceive peripherally. More graphics aren’t automatically better: choose the simplest pattern you can clearly recognize under time pressure.
19 × 28 mm window The large window tolerates small deviations in head and weapon position better than very compact open sights. Still, it doesn’t replace a reproducible cheek weld – if the dot is constantly being searched for, the setup must be checked first.
Motion sensor & solar backup The motion sensor supports readiness after rest phases; solar serves as backup according to the manufacturer. Neither is a reason to skip actively checking battery, brightness, and dot display before training or competition.
Side CR1632 The battery can be changed without removing the optic from the mount. This keeps the mechanical connection intact – a control check after working on the system is still advisable.
Instructor and user notes
Don’t reflexively set brightness to maximum. An overbright dot appears larger and covers more of the target. Start as low as safely visible under current lighting and increase only if needed.
Train presentation and eye guidance before speeding up transitions: look at the target, bring the weapon into the sight line, confirm the dot – don’t search for the dot with your head. With changing reticle patterns, it’s worth setting one pattern as standard and using the others deliberately rather than randomly.
Before mounting, check not only the “RMR-compatible” label but also plate, screw length, contact surfaces, and manufacturer approval of the specific system. MOJ denotes the footprint at Vector Optics; the included Picatinny mount is a separate interface.
Useful alternatives in direct comparison
SCRD-64: simpler and lighter The Frenzy-X SCRD-64 uses the same 19 × 28 mm window and MOJ footprint but is limited to a 3-MOA dot according to the manufacturer. Its aluminum housing and lower stated weight fit better if multi-reticle, titanium, and solar backup aren’t needed.
SCRD-SM64: multi-reticle in aluminum The Frenzy-X SCRD-SM64 combines multi-reticle and solar backup with a slightly smaller 19 × 26 mm window and aluminum housing. It’s the obvious alternative if reticle choice is more important than the titanium housing.
Technical data with practical interpretation
Optic 1× no magnification; aspherical, multi-coated lens; window 19 × 28 mm; parallax adjustment 50 yd.
Reticle Red; six patterns from 3-MOA dot, 45-MOA circle, and 60-MOA cross; 9 daylight and 2 night vision compatible brightness levels.
Adjustment 1 MOA per audible click; 90 MOA elevation and 90 MOA windage range according to current manufacturer page.
Interfaces MOJ footprint, listed by manufacturer as RMR-compatible; Picatinny mount; side-accessible CR1632.
Protection & temperature IPX7, 1000-G shock test and operating range −20 to +55 °C according to manufacturer. An open optic remains more prone to dirt than a closed system despite sealing.
Weight – deliberately open Manufacturer channels list contradictory weights of 57.3 g, 70.4 g, and currently 86 g. Until Vector Optics confirms scope and revision, we do not present any of these numbers as definitive net weight.
Scope of delivery
The current manufacturer lists hex keys, Vekey tool, manual, and cleaning cloth; the German product page additionally lists the Picatinny/Weaver quick mount. The sight is offered with the stated Picatinny interface. A battery is explicitly not included in some manufacturer channels and is therefore not guaranteed as part of the delivery.
Mounting, safety and care
Mounting: contact surfaces free of grease and
Sicherheit: Das Absehen ersetzt keine sichere Waffenhandhabung.
