VictOptics BOSL02 · 10×42
When only a movement at the forest edge catches your eye, a steady, quickly focused image counts.
The BOSL02 brings more detail at a distance with tenfold magnification, yet remains handy as a 42-mm binocular. It’s an honest budget solution for the hunting ground, birdwatching, and touring – without premium twilight promises.
Check if 10×42 fits your use
Our honest assessment
VictOptics positions the BOSL02 itself as an affordable roof prism binocular. Its strength is the usable overall package of 10× magnification, 110 m field of view at 1,000 m, central focus, and robust polycarbonate housing. The BAK-7 prism and multi-coating are functional but not comparable to high-quality BAK-4, HD, or ED glass.
At around 730 g, it’s solid rather than featherlight. For short observation phases, it can be easily handheld; for longer glassing or when hands get shaky, a rest or a suitable tripod adapter offers much more benefit than even more magnification.
Fits well if …
you want to see more detail at medium to longer distances in daylight in the hunting ground, on tour, or birdwatching and are looking for an affordable 10×42.
Fits less if …
you mostly observe into deep twilight, expect maximum edge sharpness and color fidelity, or want a particularly le
lightweight glass for hours of comfortable wear.
What the features do in practice
10× magnification Details appear larger than with 8×. At the same time, hand movements become more noticeable. A steady stance, tucked elbows, or a rest therefore make a noticeable difference.
42-mm objectives A practical compromise between light intake and packing size. Suitable for daylight and normal field observation; not a substitute for a high-quality twilight glass.
110 m field of view The field of view supports systematic scanning of larger areas. At 10×, it is still more important to work slowly in a grid rather than sweeping hastily.
Central focus and ±5 dpt After a proper diopter adjustment on the right eyepiece, focusing is mostly done via the central focus wheel during use. This saves time with changing distances.
Trainer and user tip
First set the eye distance so that a single round image appears. Then close the right eye, focus on the left with the central wheel, close the left eye and adjust the right only via the diopter setting. After that, the diopter remains untouched. When scanning terrain, divide it into overlapping sectors and take short breaks – this is more reliable than constant sweeping.
Useful alternatives
The VictOptics BOSL01 8×42 is the better choice if a steadier hand image and more relaxed observation are more important than the extra detail magnification. The Vector Optics Paragon SCBO-13 10×42 HD stays at the same magnification but offers a significantly higher optical and weatherproof class with BAK-4 prisms, HD design, and IP67.

Technical data with practical interpretation
Optics 10×42, roof prism made of BAK-7, four groups with six lenses, lenses and prisms multi-coated.
Field of view 5.8° or 110 m at 1,000 m. Good for structured scanning but noticeably more sensitive to shaking than 8×.
Exit pupil 4 mm according to the manufacturer. Usable in daylight; a larger exit pupil is more comfortable in low light.
Focus and diopter Central focus wheel, diopter adjustment on the right eyepiece from −5 to +5 dpt.
Housing Reinforced polycarbonate, 147 × 53 × 126 mm, black. Waterproof according to the manufacturer; due to conflicting sources, we deliberately do not specify a concrete IP rating.
Weight 730 g including caps according to current EU manufacturer information. The differing Shopify shipping weight is being checked separately.
Scope of delivery
VictOptics BOSL02 10×42 binoculars, carrying strap, manual, cleaning cloth, pouch, and sales packaging. Objective covers are mentioned by several model-specific dealers; the current manufacturer scope of delivery does not list them separately, so we do not specify them as a separate item.
Setting, carrying, and care
Use the carrying strap short enough so the binoculars do not swing strongly while walking. Blow off dust first or remove it with a soft optics brush; only then work with a clean microfiber cloth. Let wet binoculars dry open at room temperature and do not store them damp in the pouch. Even for optics described as waterproof, saltwater, cleaning agents, and permanent submersion are not part of normal care.
FAQ
Is 10×42 sensible for hunting? Yes, if detail recognition in open fields or at the forest edge is important and you can hold the binoculars steady. For stalking, forest, and longer handheld observation, 8× is often more relaxed.
Is the BOSL02 a twilight glass? No. 42-mm objectives and 4-mm exit pupil are a good all-round compromise, but the BAK-7 budget optics are not designed for maximum performance in deep twilight.
Can I use the binoculars with glasses? Model-specific dealers mention adjustable
re twist-up eyecups. However, the manufacturer does not provide a reliable eye relief. Glasses wearers should therefore check whether they can see the entire field of view without shading.
Is it waterproof? The manufacturer describes the BOSL02 as water-resistant. Since current sources mention different protection classes, we do not promise a specific immersion depth. Water resistance does not replace conscious drying and care.
Why does Shopify weigh 1,050 g, although the binocular weighs 730 g? 730 g is the documented product weight including caps. 1,050 g may be a shipping or packaging value, but it is currently not independently confirmed and therefore remains open as data verification.

Gear should fit your mission – not just the datasheet.
We advise from the perspective of trainers and users, openly name limits, and build knowledge together with our community that really helps out there. If you’re torn between 8× and 10×, decide first based on image steadiness, observation duration, and light – not the highest number.
