Vector Optics SCFRM-12 · MOS on VOD
The pistol is MOS-prepared, the closed red dot uses VOD: This steel plate neatly combines both interfaces.
The SCFRM-12 is the flat, model-specific intermediate solution for compatible MOS pistols and VOD optics like the Frenzy-Plus series. Vector Optics lists VOD as compatible with the ACRO pattern. Still, the decisive factor remains the exact combination of slide, optic, and screws.
Check compatibility before purchase
Our honest assessment
The SCFRM-12 solves a clearly defined problem: It adapts the MOS interface of a suitable pistol to the VOD footprint. The version made of #45 steel is robust but deliberately adds an extra layer of 4.7 mm between slide and optic.
Good is the clear assignment to Vector Optics models of the SCRD-63-Frenzy-Plus line. Less good: “MOS” alone is not a complete approval. Weapon model, existing MOS plate or milling, screw length, and op
tik must fit together. If you get a direct mount approved by the firearm or optics manufacturer, you usually reduce height and interfaces with it.
Fits well if …
your compatible pistol uses the MOS system,
your enclosed Red Dot uses the VOD or ACRO-compatible footprint,
you specifically want to mount an SCRD-63, SCRD-SM63 or an explicitly designated VOD model,
you prefer a durable steel plate over a very lightweight solution.
Fits less well if …
your pistol does not have a compatible MOS interface,
your optic uses RMR, RMSc, Docter or another footprint,
you are looking for the lowest possible sight height or weight,
you cannot clearly determine firearm model, optic model or necessary screws.
Compatibility: correctly classify VOD and ACRO
Vector Optics describes VOD as a pattern compatible with the ACRO footprint. Characteristic are the central cutout or recoil stop and the mounting of the Red Dot from underneath. The SCFRM-12 maps MOS on the firearm side and VOD on the optic side.
This is not a blanket approval for every pistol with the word “MOS” and every ACRO-type optic. Check the manufacturer’s specifications of your firearm model and the optic. Especially important are the actual contact surface, the fit of the recoil contour, the thread engagements and the permissible screw length.
What the features mean in practice
#45 steel The plate is designed for a form-fit connection. For this, it brings more weight with 26.5 g than many aluminum adapters.
4.7 mm height The optic sits about the plate thickness higher. This can affect the sight picture, the use of existing mechanical sights and holster compatibility.
49 × 25.4 mm The compact base area is designed for the VOD connection. Existing contours on the slide and clearance to the ejection port remain model-dependent.
M3×6 Torx Two screws are included. Use them only if thread, length and approval fit your specific combination.
Mounting and control tips
Completely unload the firearm, remove the magazine and visually as well as tactilely check the cartridge chamber.
Keep contact surfaces free of grease and burrs; place the plate without force and check the form-fit seating.
Never tighten screws “maximally tight” by feel. Choose torque and threadlocker only according to the specifications of the firearm, adapter and optic manufacturer.
Before shooting, check that screws are not too long and do not affect internal components.
After mounting, check function, zero the optic and check screw tightness after the first training sessions.
Typical mistake: concluding suitable screws from a matching footprint. Footprint, thread, screw length and permissible torque are four separate check points.
Useful alternative
An optic that fits directly to the slide or an original plate explicitly approved by the firearm manufacturer can be the better solution if it does not require an additional adapter layer. This often reduces height and eliminates a possible point of failure. The SCFRM-12 makes sense if your existing or planned VOD optic is to be used specifically on a compatible MOS pistol.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is VOD the same as Aimpoint ACRO?
Vector Optics describes VOD as compatible with the ACRO footprint. For the purchase decision, however, the explicit approval of the specific optic model counts; similar external shapes are not proof of compatibility.
Does the plate fit every MOS pistol?
No. Vector Optics names MOS pistols like G17 models as the application field, but this does not imply universal approval for every model. Check weapon model, MOS version, mounting surface and screws before purchase.
Which optics are intended?
The manufacturer assigns the adapter especially to the SCRD-63-Frenzy-Plus line. The VOD footprint is also used on other Vector Optics models. The decisive factor is the explicit VOD or ACRO pattern compatibility of the exact model.
What torque is correct?
No reliable universal value is given on the product page for the SCFRM-12. Use the specifications of the weapon, adapter and optic manufacturer. Without a clear specification, the assembly should be checked by a qualified person.
Does the optic need to be zeroed after mounting?
Yes. A new plate changes the position of the optic. After secure mounting, function check, zeroing and a renewed check of the screw tightness are required.
