The GPBS-01 is an optical collimator with caliber pins – not a laser boresighter. The matching pin aligns the collimator in front of the muzzle. Through the mounted optic, you see a reference grid and can initially move the reticle to where it should be for your documented setup.

What the optical collimator practically does
Pre-zeroing Faster on target The reference grid creates a defined starting point. This reduces the risk that the first group lies outside the target medium.
Control Make changes visible If you note the grid position of a zeroed setup, noticeable deviations after transport or mounting work can be detected faster.
Limit No ballistic zero The collimator only shows the geometric relationship between barrel axis and sight line. You check ammunition, distance, and shooting behavior exclusively at the range.
Trainer tip: After the real zeroing, note the grid position for exactly this firearm, scope, mount, and the same mandrel. The greatest benefit does not come from a supposedly universal target image, but from a repeatable reference of your own setup.
Use safely and protect material
Firearm fully unloaded: remove magazine, check cartridge chamber and barrel, remove ammunition from the work area, and safely point the muzzle.
Choose the right mandrel: use only a clearly fitting, clean mandrel. Never press into the muzzle with force.
Store firearm stably: any movement changes the reference between barrel axis, collimator grid, and reticle.
Insert collimator straight: place mandrel and optical unit without tension; stop and check the fit if there is resistance or play.
Pre-zero roughly only: align reticle on the reference grid and document the position. Do not unnecessarily turn to the mechanical stop of the scope.
Remove before shooting: fully remove collimator and mandrel from the barrel, check barrel again, and confirm zero with a safe shot group.
Typical mistakes that cost time and precision
Wrong or tensioned mandrel Even slight play, dirt, or lateral tension shifts the grid image. Don’t “make it fit,” but check size and fit again.
Confusing grid position with point of impact The grid is a geometric reference. Without real distance, bullet flight, and shot group, it is not a reliable zero.
Moving firearm between looks Pre-zeroing only works with a stable rest. After each touch, first check if barrel and collimator still stand unchanged.
Forgetting mandrel in barrel Before each shot, the barrel must be completely free. An inserted mandrel is a dangerous barrel blockage.

Is the GPBS-01 a laser boresighter? No. It is a purely optical collimator. You see a reference grid through the mounted optics; no laser dot appears on the target.
Can I zero a firearm completely with it? No. The set brings you to a meaningful starting position and can show reference deviations. The final zero must be confirmed with suitable ammunition and a controlled shot group.
Does the set fit securely to every caliber between .177 and .50? No. The decisive factor is the actually fitting pin, not just the caliber designation. The pin must not be forced if there is play, resistance, or unsuitable muzzle geometry.
