Airsoft Optic Protection · SCOT-59II / D29A
Better to replace a cheap protective screen than the front lens of your Red Dot
A BB hits the sight frontally: Exactly for this moment, the transparent acrylic plate sits in front of the actual optic. The adjustable aluminum ring fits Red Dot objective tubes with 28–30 mm outer diameter and weighs only 4.5 g according to the manufacturer.
Measure before buying: The outer diameter of the objective tube is crucial – not the diameter of the visible lens.
Select SCOT-59II
Our honest assessment
The SCOT-59II is a small, replaceable protective barrier for Airsoft and Paintball. Its benefit is clear: a hit should first strike the acrylic and not the more expensive front lens of the enclosed Red Dot. It is not a ballistically tested protective screen and does not guarantee to absorb every hit or fall without damage.
The adjustable range is more practical than a fixed one-size-fits-all but does not replace measuring. If mounted too loosely, the ring can slip; z
Fits well if … your closed Red Dot has a freely accessible, round objective tube with a 28–30 mm outer diameter at the front and you want to protect it from direct hits in Airsoft or Paintball.
Fits less well if … you measured the visible lens instead of the outer tube, a rubber protective cap must remain mounted, or you expect certified shatter or ballistic protection.
Compatibility without guesswork
How to measure correctly
Measure with calipers on the outside of the front, round objective tube. The result must be between 28 and 30 mm. Also check if there is enough free tube length for the 8 mm long ring and no controls, caps, or mounts collide.
Vector Optics explicitly names Maverick SCRD-12, SCRD-12II, SCRD-PS12, SCRD-PD12, SCRD-GY12 as well as Centurion SCRD-33. Also explicitly excluded are the Maverick rubber covers SCRD-38, -39, -41, -42, -51, -60, and -61.
Practical effect and limits
Acrylic as sacrificial part The transparent disc absorbs hits, dust, and scratches before the actual optics. This makes it consciously replaceable – not indestructible.
Only 4.5 grams net The additional weight is hardly relevant on the Red Dot. More important is that the ring sits straight and does not unnecessarily restrict the field of view.
Adjustable clamping ring The 28–30 mm range covers several tubes. A firm fit only occurs through correct adjustment and securing – just slipping it on is not enough.
Additional optical surface Dirt, scratches, or protective film can degrade the image. Both transparent transport films must be removed before use.
User note from an exact product review
A buyer of the SCOT-59II reports that the ring also holds firmly on optics of the same size not from Vector Optics when correctly locked. This is a single user experience, not a universal compatibility guarantee – outer diameter and free mounting area remain decisive.
Alternative and matching Red Dot in the shop
SCOT-59 for 29–29.3 mm The older, tighter-fitting alternative for objective tubes around 29 mm. It is not equivalent to the adjustable range of the SCOT-59II.
SCRD-33 Centurion 1x20 The manufacturer explicitly lists the Centurion SCRD-33 as a compatible Red Dot. Still, measure the specific tube before mounting.

Scope of delivery
A Vector Optics SCOT-59II protective disc with aluminum ring and acrylic insert. The exact specialist dealer description additionally names clamping screw and hex key; the German manufacturer page summarizes the scope of delivery only as “protective disc.” Therefore, we do not guarantee separate tools.
Assembly, inspection, and care
Preparation: Remove both transparent protective films from the acrylic disc. Measure the objective tube outside and clean contact surfaces from sand or coarse dirt.
Mounting: Place the ring straight on the free tube and secure only so far that it does not shift
