NEXTORCH TA21 · White Light + Visible Red Light
Compact dual-light flashlight with clear ring control
The TA21 combines white light and visible red light in a compact housing. The rotary ring preselects RED, LOCK, DUTY, and TAC – useful for users who want to clearly set the operating mode before use.
TA21 fitting classification

Our honest assessment

The TA21 is a short EDC and tactical flashlight for inspection, outdoor, hunting grounds, vehicle, and low-light training. Its biggest advantage is not only the peak performance but the clear mechanical separation of operating modes.
The red light is visible red light, not infrared. The small 16340 battery keeps the system compact but offers less energy reserve than larger 18650 or 21700 flashlights. If you plan long search phases or continuous high light output, you should choose a larger flashlight class.

Fits well if … … you want white and red light in a short housing, want to mechanically select the mode before use, and a compact flashlight is more important than maximum runtime.

Less suitable if … … you are looking for infrared light, extreme range, long continuous operation at high level, or a large replaceable energy supply.

Operating logic – what it practically changes

RED Three
visible red light levels with 3, 30, and 150 lumens. For immediate close range, the lowest suitable level is usually more useful than maximum brightness.

LOCK Mechanical lock for pocket, pouch, and transport. It reduces the risk of accidental activation and unnecessary heat buildup.

DUTY White light with 30, 230, and 1,300 lumens. This allows switching between close-range orientation and stronger illumination.

TAC Direct instant access to High and Strobe via the tail switch. This operation should be mastered safely before use.

Limits and avoiding bad purchases

1,300 lumens is the highest white light level, not automatically constant output. Heat, battery condition, and electronic regulation affect the actual performance over runtime.
Red is not IR: If you’re looking for a lamp for night vision equipment, you need a model with explicitly specified infrared light.
Range is not a reliable identification distance: Manufacturer ranges are standardized measurements; weather, contrast, target size, and eyesight determine practical visibility.

Practical use

Choose mode before the situation Set RED, DUTY, or TAC before entering a dark area. This reduces operating errors under time pressure.

Use red light sparingly Start with 3 lumens at close range. Higher levels reflect much more strongly on bright surfaces.

Adjust FR-1 The included guide ring supports grip and switching hold. Its position should be adjusted to actual hand size, gloves, and carrying style.

Plan reserve power NEXTORCH specifies 16340 Li-Ion and CR123A as power options. A CR123A is a primary cell and must not be charged.

Technical data with practical interpretation

White light 1,300 / 230 / 30 ANSI lumens; manufacturer ranges 160 / 68 / 24 m.

Red light 150 / 30 / 3 ANSI lumens; maximum manufacturer range 45 m.

Power 1 × 16340 Li-Ion or 1 × CR123A. The included 800 mAh 16340 battery has a USB-C charging port directly on the battery.

Dimensions and weight 98 × 32 × 23 mm; 97 g without battery. This keeps the TA21 clearly more compact than large searchlights.

Protection IPX8 up to 2 m water depth and shock resistance up to 2 m according to manufacturer specifications.

Front Stainless steel lens bezel with nano-ceramic glass breaker. The function is intended for the designated emergency purpose and requires careful handling.

Scope of delivery
NEXTORCH TA21, 16340 battery with 800 mAh and USB-C charging port, USB charging cable, FR-1 guide ring, stainless steel clip, wrist strap, and user manual.
Safety and care

Do not shine into eyes and do not cover the front at high output. Set to LOCK before transport. Only charge suitable 16340 batteries; never charge CR123A primary cells. After moisture exposure, dry the lamp and sealing surfaces and only charge the battery when dry.

FAQ about the NEXTORCH TA21
Is the TA21 a red light or infrared lamp? The TA21 offers visible red light. For IR, a model explicitly designed for that must be chosen.
Can the TA21 be charged directly via USB-C? The USB-C port is on the included 16340 battery. To charge, the battery is removed from the lamp.
Can a CR123A be used as a reserve? Yes, according to the manufacturer. However, a CR123A is not rechargeable and must never be charged.
Is the FR-1 included? Yes. The guide ring is part of the scope of delivery and can be positioned to fit the hand.
Is the TA21 intended for long search phases? Its strength is compactness and clear operating logic. For long runtime at high output, larger lamps with bigger power storage are usually more suitable.

Black Raptor · honestly classified
The TA21 fits when compact design, visible red light, and clear ring operation are needed together. We also consciously classify the limits: small energy reserve, no IR, and no continuous search ligh
lamp.
