The Bushnell R7 2-10x42 is a versatile hunting scope for a wide range of hunting grounds and situations. Its 2–10x magnification range combines a wide field of view at short distances with enough magnification for precise shots at medium ranges. Bushnell positions the R7 2-10x42 as a universal scope for woodland, field and mountain hunting. For high image quality, Bushnell uses ED Prime Glass. The ED glass reduces color fringing and improves contrast and resolution—especially during the low-light periods of early morning and dusk. The fully multi-coated lenses are also protected by Bushnell’s EXO Barrier. This hydrophobic protective coating repels water, snow, dust, oil and dirt, helping maintain a clear view in changing weather conditions. The linked version features the illuminated Multi-X reticle in the second focal plane. The central Fiber Dot makes it easier to acquire targets quickly and can be adjusted to suit ambient conditions using eleven brightness settings. If the illumination is left untouched for six hours, it automatically switches to standby mode. Power is supplied by a CR2032 battery. A particular advantage over more basic hunting optics is the side parallax adjustment. It ranges from 15 yd, or around 13.7 m, to infinity and allows precise adjustment for different target distances. The elevation and windage adjustments are protected by caps against accidental changes. Each click adjusts by 1/4 MOA, with one full turret rotation corresponding to 25 MOA. The 30 mm main tube offers a total elevation adjustment range of 120 MOA and a windage adjustment range of 100 MOA. Eye relief is a comfortable 95 mm. At 2x magnification, the field of view at 100 m is 20 m; at 10x magnification, it is 4 m. A throw lever that can be mounted in three different positions allows you to adjust the magnification ring quickly. At around 316 mm long and weighing about 620 g, the R7 2-10x42 remains compact and well-balanced despite its 42 mm objective lens and extensive features. The housing is waterproof to IPX7. Bushnell combines a rugged all-weather construction, ED optics, Fiber Dot illumination and a practical magnification range in a versatile hunting scope.
