ARCHWICK Type A AWS AR GBB Magazine – Premium Aluminum Magazine for MWS Platforms

The ARCHWICK Type A – Archwick Weapon System AR GBB Magazine is a high-quality gas blowback magazine for the ARCHWICK AWS platform as well as Tokyo Marui MWS and numerous compatible MWS-based GBB systems. ARCHWICK developed the magazine with a special focus on reliability, thermal efficiency, consistent gas delivery, and long-term durability. With its lightweight aluminum alloy housing, an increased gas capacity of 14 g, a redesigned output valve, and the integrated Air-Seal Barrier, the Type A goes far beyond a simple aluminum replacement magazine.

The design improvements aim to reduce typical weak points of heavily used GBB magazines while enabling the most consistent shooting and cycling behavior possible.

14 g Gas Volume for More Stable Supply

The Type A offers an internal gas volume of 14 g, which according to ARCHWICK is about 17% more gas capacity than an original Tokyo Marui MWS magazine with 12 g. The larger gas reservoir provides more energy for the GBB cycle and thus supports a more even supply throughout the entire magazine fill. Especially during rapid fire sequences and lower temperatures, the additional gas volume can offer a practical advantage, as the system has more reserves and suffers less quickly from decreasing gas supply.

Improved Thermal Properties and Reduced Cooldown

In a GBB magazine, performance is not determined by gas volume alone. That’s why ARCHWICK uses a special lightweight aluminum alloy with high thermal conductivity for the Type A. This allows the magazine to absorb heat from its surroundings more quickly after temperature-related cooldown. This supports faster temperature recovery and thus more stable gas evaporation during repeated firing sequences.

ARCHWICK tested the function under various conditions with HFC-134A and Green Gas at temperatures from 5 °C to 38 °C. This means the Type A is designed not only for optimal summer temperatures but for the most reliable function across a wide temperature range.

Redesigned Output Valve for Reliable Gas Delivery

An important component of the Type A is the newly developed output valve. The design is aimed at more consistent and smoother valve operation and is intended to reduce problems caused by sticking or stiff valves, which can occur in heavily used GBB magazines. For the user, this means more reliable gas release and thus a more consistent interaction between magazine and GBB system.

Integrated Air-Seal Barrier for Better Pressure Stability

Additionally, the Type A features an integrated Air-Seal Barrier. This extra seal supports a controlled gas transfer between magazine and nozzle and helps reduce gas loss and pressure fluctuations during the firing cycle. The result is a connection between magazine and GBB system designed for consistent gas delivery – an important factor for smooth cycling and reproducible shooting behavior.

Internal M5×135 Reinforcement for Long-Term Durability

ARCHWICK also considered the mechanical stress on the magazine body. Inside is an M5×135 structural screw that additionally stabilizes the magazine body. This internal reinforcement is intended to counteract long-term deformation as well as enlargement or wear of the pin holes during intensive use. As a result, the Type A is designed not only for good gas performance but explicitly also for long-term mechanical durability.

Only about 420 g – Around 8% Lighter Than the Original MWS Magazine

Despite its reinforced construction, the ARCHWICK Type A weighs only about 420
g. According to ARCHWICK, it is about 8% lighter than the original Tokyo Marui MWS magazine. The weight advantage is especially noticeable when multiple magazines are carried by the player. At the same time, the aluminum construction maintains the structural stability necessary for a GBB magazine. 36 BBs and tested gas reserves The magazine holds 36 BBs, combining a realistic GBB magazine capacity with a practical number of shots. In ARCHWICK's tests with an original Tokyo Marui MWS platform, a full 14-g gas fill enabled up to 72 semi-automatic shots with full bolt-lock function under the specified test conditions. The actual range of a gas fill depends in practice on temperature, gas used, weapon, rate of fire, and system condition. Wide compatibility with MWS-based GBB platforms The Type A was developed for the ARCHWICK Weapon System GBB Rifles as well as Tokyo Marui MWS and compatible MWS-spec platforms. According to ARCHWICK, compatibility has been confirmed with the ARCHWICK L119A2, Tokyo Marui M4 Series, CYMA Noveske N4, CYMA T8 HK416, Guns Modify SCAR, IRON Noveske N4, Modelwork HK416, Salvo Precision MCX, Toxicant MCX, and Well Pro MCX. This makes the Type A suitable not only as a matching additional magazine for the ARCHWICK Colt Canada L119A2 but also as a high-quality upgrade or additional magazine option for a variety of MWS-based GBB platforms.
