Barnes Harvest Collection .400 Legend 13.0 g / 200 gr Sierra Pro-Hunter JHP Hunting Ammunition – 20 Pieces #32478
The Barnes Harvest Collection in caliber .400 Legend belongs to the manufacturer’s Straightwall series and was designed as a powerful hunting load for medium-strong, thin-skinned game. Barnes combines its own high manufacturing and loading standards with a 13.0 g / 200 gr Sierra Pro-Hunter bullet. The used Pro-Hunter is a classic jacketed bullet with a lead core. Sierra offers the corresponding 40-Cal. version as a 200 gr JHP Pro-Hunter. The bullet design is aimed at controlled expansion and reliable penetration in hunting applications. This load combines a high bullet mass with the typical Straight-Wall design of the .400 Legend caliber. Barnes assigns the cartridge to the Hunting purpose and the Medium Game category. The ballistic coefficient G1 is 0.196. With a muzzle velocity of 2,265 fps or about 690 m/s, the 200-gr bullet achieves a muzzle energy of 2,279 ft-lb or about 3,090 J. At 100 yd / 91.4 m, the velocity is still about 569 m/s with an energy of around 2,100 J according to Barnes. Even at 200 yd / 182.9 m, about 464 m/s and approximately 1,394 J are still reached. The manufacturer’s ballistics are documented up to 250 yd and use 100 yd as the zero distance. The Barnes Harvest Collection .400 Legend is thus aimed at hunters looking for lead-containing Straight-Wall hunting ammunition with a proven Sierra Pro-Hunter bullet. The ammunition is delivered in a pack of 20 cartridges.
