The Barnes Harvest Collection in caliber 6.5 Creedmoor is a precision-oriented hunting load for medium and larger thin-skinned game. Barnes combines its own ammunition manufacturing with the 9.1 g / 140 gr Sierra Tipped GameKing (TGK), relying on a bullet design that combines high aerodynamic efficiency with reliable hunting expansion and penetration. The used Sierra Tipped GameKing is a modern jacketed bullet with a lead core and polymer tip. The streamlined High-BC design reduces air resistance and supports a flat trajectory as well as good velocity and energy retention. Sierra states that the polymer tip supports expansion, while the comparatively strong bullet jacket controls penetration. The 140-gr Tipped GameKing has a diameter of 6.71 mm / .264" and a ballistic coefficient of G1 0.563. Sierra also specifies a G7-BC of 0.276. The bullet was developed for modern 6.5mm hunting cartridges and is intended by Sierra for barrels with a twist rate of 1:8" or faster. Barnes specifies a muzzle velocity of 2,700 fps or about 823 m/s for the finished 6.5 Creedmoor load. The muzzle energy is 2,267 ft-lb or about 3,074 J. At 200 yd / 182.9 m, the bullet still reaches about 728 m/s and approximately 2,405 J. Even at longer distances, velocity and energy remain comparatively well preserved. At 300 yd / 274.3 m, Barnes states about 683 m/s and 2,116 J, at 400 yd / 365.8 m still about 639 m/s and 1,856 J. At 500 yd / 457.2 m, about 598 m/s and 1,622 J are given.
