It has an independent and authentic design as a result. The compact signal pistol is made in the popular caliber 9mm P.A.K. The magazine of the weapon holds 7 cartridges. For the necessary safety, the RG88 blank pistol has a roller safety with integrated decocking function. This means that the hammer returns to the resting position when the gas pistol is cocked with the safety on. This function makes the RG88 a loyal and above all safe companion for self-defense. In addition, the blank pistol has a combined single-/double-action trigger.Our assessmentIf you look around the market a bit, you notice that the Röhm RG 88 always stands a bit in the shadow of the larger RG 96. For us, unjustly, as our small test report will show. It starts with the processing quality. This is, typical for weapons with the Röhm inscription, very good. All edges were cleanly deburred and the surface is absolutely even. The bluing was also applied very evenly. When you then take the RG88 in your hand, several things stand out. Even with vigorous shaking, no rattling is noticeable. Furthermore, the play of the bolt is almost not measurable. And finally, the barrel of the bolt is buttery smooth and without any scratching. The next thing you notice is the good grip. The RG88 gas pistol sits securely in the hand and the fish scale pattern on the grip panels provides additional hold. At just under 600 grams, it is also lightweight and therefore hardly noticeable when carried concealed. When disassembling the RG 88, the PPK principle is used. With the trigger guard folded down, the bolt can be lifted backward and upward. In the final shooting test, we also checked whether shooting might reveal any weak points. But as expected, that was not the case. After firing 50 shots, we could detect neither jams nor misfires. A very good result.The Röhm RG 88 fascinated us. It is an absolutely high-quality and reliable blank pistol. Due to its compact dimensions, it is ideal for self-defense and still maintains sufficient firepower thanks to the 7 cartridges.
