The Margolin or training pistol is a .22 LR pistol mainly used for shooting at competition targets in the 25 m standard pistol class according to the rules of the International Shooting Sport Federation for bullseye target shooting at 25 m.
Developed from 1946-1948 by Mikhail Vladimirovich Margolin. The first five pistols were produced in 1947. The abbreviation MЦ stands for "Margolina Mnogozelevoi" (Margolin multipurpose). Drawings and documentation were created by TsKIB СOO. Manufactured at the Izhevsk Machine Plant from 1948 to 1979. The pistol was made in two versions – with long and short barrel.
