Description

Walther PPQ M2 blank firing pistol 9mm P.A.K. The Walther PPQ is not a completely new development, but rather an evolution of the successful P99. The abbreviation PPQ stands for Police-Pistol-Quick-Defense and indicates the weapon's orientation towards police special units as a backup weapon. This is also reflected in the caliber selection. The pistol is available in NATO standard 9x19mm (9mm Para) as well as the .40 S&W caliber, which is important for the US market. To be able to react quickly in emergency situations, the PPQ is always ready to fire once cocked. There is no manual safety or decocking button. Safety is provided by the trigger's middle safety lever, which is already known from Glock. This only releases the shot when the finger is on the trigger. Another innovation is the polymer grip with the patented Hi Grip® surface. As with the Walther P99, the hammer is also internal in the PPQ and thus protected from damage. Due to the constantly cocked state, the Walther has a Single Action Only trigger. This has the decisive advantage that the trigger travel is consistently 9mm and the trigger weight is always the same. As is customary with Walther pistols, the company Umarex takes over the licensed production of the gas pistol. It is largely identical in construction to its model and features the same trigger. The only difference is the caliber used. The blank firing pistol uses cartridges in caliber 9mm P.A.K, of which 15 fit into the stick magazine. The suppressor has the same thread as the muzzle adapter and can therefore be screwed onto the barrel like this. Technical data of the Walther PPQ M2 P.A.K. Manufacturer: Umarex / Walther Caliber: 9 mm P.A.K. System: Gas - Signal / blank firing Magazine size: 15 rounds Overall length: 180 mm Weight: 660 g Trigger: Single-Action Grip: non-slip Hi-Grip surface structure Slide: Metal, blued Walther PPQ M2 blank firing test Fresh on the market, we received our test specimen of model generation 2 (short M2). The most important change here is the side magazine release button, which can no longer be accidentally activated. But back to the beginning. As expected, a black plastic pistol case was in front of us. Included were the obligatory muzzle adapter, cleaning brush, and manual. But since our test primarily concerns the weapon, we will focus only on that. As with the P22Q, the slide is kept in matte black and the grip is equipped with the new Hi Grip® surface. The workmanship is exemplary once again. We could not find any scratches or other traces on the PPQ either. The original markings are also present. As with the Heckler & Koch P30, the slide catch lever on the right side of the Walther PPQ M2 is only indicated and not functional. However, this does not limit the function or appearance of the gas pistol. Since we had no other complaints, this point should at least be mentioned. The pistol sits very well in the hand overall, and all controls are easily accessible. The trigger has a very pleasant characteristic, even though this is not an important point for a blank firing pistol. Since the spring has been changed, the slide now feels a bit smoother. Finally, we could not detect any malfunctions during the ammunition test. The suppressor noticeably reduces the shot noise. One should only note that wear is increased due to the higher back pressure. We see the development as successful. The Walther PPQ M2 gas/signal pistol looks good, works well, and feels good too. If that isn't the three most important buying arguments.
