

Roman shield Scutum made of wood with shield boss and brass trim.
The Scutum is probably the most striking piece of equipment of the Roman army. Especially known is the "tortoise" formation, where the legion was covered with the Scutum on all sides and above. The size and curvature correspond to the Roman shields from around 40 - 200 AD.
