VORTEX AMG 1-10x24 FFP EBR-9 MRAD

The VORTEX AMG 1-10x24 FFP with EBR-9 MRAD reticle is a top-tier scope. The AMG series is already Vortex's flagship line, but the 1-10x24 FFP offers features and craftsmanship never before seen in such a package. The glass was made for the demands of a military special unit and has far exceeded them – lightweight, compact, extremely robust, and manufactured with the tightest tolerances. The technical details are excellent and impressive, but it’s the overall impression that justifies the high price.

Weighing only 533g and just 21.4cm long, it’s designed for use on a combined weapon system with laser-light modules, attachments or night vision goggles, back-up sights, as well as for use on compact weapon platforms. The field of view is about 35m at 100m at 1x magnification and about 3.7m at 100m at 10x magnification – the 34mm main tube fully plays to its strengths.

The lenses and housing also offer the latest manufacturing standards and processes. Plasma-coated lenses with XP Plus coating for best light transmission and durability, apochromatic lenses for highest color fidelity, an Armortek lens coating for maximum scratch resistance, and HD lenses for the best possible resolution and detail fidelity. A housing made of aircraft aluminum with a matte, low-reflection, and very durable hard anodizing. The housing and lens system are filled with argon gas. The reticle is etched, and the glass is naturally waterproof, shockproof, recoil-resistant, fog-resistant, and temperature-resistant over a wide range.

The EBR-9 reticle is an evolution of Vortex’s EBR family – reticles designed for use in the first focal plane, FFP. With a clearly visible and quickly recognizable aiming circle for use at 1x magnification and holdover marks for lead and bullet drop at long distances and all magnifications. The reticle has its own manual, which is needed to fully utilize it. But once mastered, it offers quick target acquisition, reliable range estimation, and precise shots at every ballistically sensible distance. The EBR-9 is entirely in MRAD. The aiming point is just 0.2 MRAD – that corresponds to 2cm at 100m!

The remaining features round off the package. Especially noteworthy is the elevation turret: fully tool-free adjustable, lockable, with a very solid and fine click adjustment, and adjustable with TWO zero stops, so you can use these either for different loadings, normal or suppressor operation, or simply as two hold points for close and long-range use. The illumination is adjustable in 11 levels, lockable, and has off positions between intensity levels. The diopter adjustment is also lockable to prevent unwanted changes. With a quick adjustment lever for magnification, which works at a 120° angle and is kept flat to avoid snagging, the shooter is always quickly in the desired setting.

A scope aimed at professional users or very ambitious shooters. Very expensive but definitely worth the money IF you know how to use it.
