The single-shot shotgun Baikal in caliber 12/70 is a used shotgun with one barrel that operates on the break-action principle and is designed for use with commercially available cartridges of this caliber. Typical representatives of this design are models like the Baikal IJ-18 or MP-18, which are characterized by a robust, technically simple, and maintenance-friendly construction. As a single-shot, the shotgun accommodates one cartridge in caliber 12/70 and allows for the removal of the fired shell and reloading after opening the system.

The Baikal single-shot shotguns feature a smooth barrel with a fixed choke bore, designed for a uniform shot pattern. The barrel length ranges from about 70–75 cm and supports a balanced relationship between maneuverability and shooting performance. The system is opened via a locking lever, allowing the barrel to tip down to remove or insert a cartridge or shell. The weight is approximately between 2.5 and 2.8 kg, enabling stable yet easily manageable handling.

The stock is made of walnut or another hardwood and is designed in a classic shape with a pistol grip or a light half-pistol grip. A textured butt plate ensures a secure fit on the shoulder, while sling swivels allow for the attachment of a carrying strap. The metal parts are blued, providing corrosion protection and reducing glare.
