CS-Reizstoff acts immediately and involuntarily on human mucous membranes, causing stinging in the eyes and nose, tearing and nasal discharge, sneezing, nausea, breathing difficulties, skin irritations, and skin burning. The irritant effects depend on the concentration of the irritant.

The range is approximately 2 to 6 meters.

The cartridges may only be used in gas and signal revolvers.
