Description

Walther CP88 Competition CO2 Pistol blued - 4.5 mm The Walther CP88 CO2 pistol is a licensed production from Umarex. Both the grip and the metal slide have been blued. As a contrast, black plastic grip panels have been used on the CO2 pistol. For ammunition, 4.5 mm diabolo pellets are used. 8 of them can be loaded into a cylinder, which then fits into the forward-opening breech. The 12 g CO2 capsule required for propulsion is hidden in the grip under the grip panels. This provides an energy of up to 4 Joules. The Walther CP88 features a manual thumb safety. The single/double action trigger can be operated with both a cocked and uncocked hammer. In both cases, the cylinder is advanced to the next position. The rear sight of the CP88 is laterally adjustable. In the 6-inch variant, the CP88 has a match compensator. This also increases the energy of the pistol. With the barrel change system, the CP88 can be converted back to the standard length with an optional 4-inch barrel at any time. The CO2 pistol has a length of 230 mm and a weight of 1150 g. Art.: 416.00.05-Set - Walther CP88 Competition CO2 Pistol - Cal. 4.5mm Diabolo + 25 ZS Technical data for the Walther CP88 Competition: System: CO2 Caliber: 4.5mm Diabolo Drive: 12g CO2 capsule Energy: approx. 4 Joules Velocity: 130m/s Magazine capacity: 8 shots Trigger: Double-Action Safety: manual Length: 230mm Barrel length: 143.1mm Weight: 1150g Sights: laterally adjustable Slide: Metal & blued Grip: blued Grip panels: black polymer Our assessment: The sharp original has really been replicated down to the last detail. Due to the high-quality bluing of the CO2 pistol, one could just as well be holding a real P88. The weight would also match. The workmanship leaves, as is usual with Umarex, nothing to be desired. All parts of the CP88 CO2 pistol have been manufactured with great precision. The cylinder holds 8 diabolo pellets while the CO2 capsule is directly clamped into the grip. In our shooting test, the good impression continued. The CP88 is very precise and, thanks to an energy of up to 4 Joules, has good penetration power. Due to the use of diabolo pellets, the precision on the target is significantly higher than with BB variants. This makes plinking even more fun. The 2-inch longer barrel is noticeably felt. For experienced shooters, hole-in-hole shots are easily possible. Our small test showed us that the implementation from the real weapon to the CO2 diabolo pistol is very successful. It looks very authentic and shoots very precisely. Information about the original: In 1981, the company Carl Walther began developing a new service pistol in caliber 9 x 19 mm (9 mm Parabellum). According to the manufacturer's intention, it was to replace the Colt 1911 in the US Army and the Walther P1 in the Bundeswehr. Unfortunately, both endeavors failed due to the lack of a manual safety. Thus, the new pistol only received its name in 1988 upon its civil market introduction. The Walther P88 was then continuously developed. In 1992, the P88 Compact, which served as the model for the gas pistol, followed, and in 1993 the sport model P88 Competition. Although the complete P88 series was not a great commercial success and could not compete with the emerging polymer pistols, it was nonetheless a milestone in the development of modern self-loading pistols. The most important innovation in the Compact variant was the ambidextrous manual safety. In contrast, the Browning-Petter system used in the original version remained unchanged. This can be produced more easily and, above all, more cost-effectively than the original Browning system and was also less sensitive.
