The Hornady Custom 6.5 Grendel with 123gr SST bullet is a balanced load for use on medium game. The load utilizes the ballistic properties of the special caliber and is designed for a hunting point-blank range of 200m - the SST bullet shows effectiveness (depending on barrel length) at distances of up to 500m.

The SST is a proven bullet construction, it is a fragmenting bullet with a ballistic tip, which is helpful not only in feeding and external ballistics but also promotes rapid expansion of the bullet in terminal ballistics. The jacket and lead core are connected at two points in the middle and at the rear, ensuring that a bullet fragment with high mass is always retained, which ensures a safe exit wound and proper penetration - even at long distances, thanks to the very well-shaped bullet with a ballistic coefficient of 0.510 (G1)!

The bullet and caliber complement each other excellently for hunting at short to long distances - a true all-rounder in a compact package with low recoil. Designed for hunting semi-automatics based on the AR15, this ammunition extracts the maximum from the small platform.

Please note:
This load is only conditionally suitable for large game: The necessary 2,000J at 100m are just barely achieved from 24" barrels. If shorter barrels are used, the legal requirements may not be met.
