The Mossberg MVP Scout Rifle is part of the MVP family of affordable, practical bolt-action rifles. Equipped with a long sight rail, approximately 25cm in length, and open sights, this weapon is an interpretation of the namesake "Scout Rifle," a concept by Jeff Cooper. Bedded in a polymer stock and featuring a short, thick barrel, this weapon is more intended as a "Brush Gun" or tracking weapon, deviating from the original concept; the heavy barrel aids in quickly aiming at briefly appearing game. For Central European conditions, the rifle is also suitable as an all-rounder for all hunting situations. The long sight rail not only allows for the mounting of a scout scope with long eye relief but also the attachment of a night vision device with Picatinny mount.

The LBA trigger is adjustable from approximately 1,360g to 3,170g. The stock features sling swivel mounts and side Picatinny rails. Affordable and compact AR10 magazines from Magpul are used, significantly increasing the versatility of the weapon. The muzzle-end front sight has a fiberglass insert and is positioned directly on the muzzle thread with A2 standard muzzle flash suppressor.
