The cartridge 7.92 x 33 mm kurz (also known as the Pistolenpatrone 43) was developed as a compromise between the rifle cartridge 7.92 x 57 mm and the smaller pistol cartridge 9 mm Luger. This explains the term "intermediate cartridge." The interesting caliber is still used by collectors and sport shooters alike.
