The Vortex Venom 1-6x24 with AR-BDC3 reticle in the second focal plane (SFP) is an affordable entry-level scope from VortexOptics. Despite the low price, it is a well-thought-out and solid riflescope for various applications - with the main purpose clearly being dynamic use on Modern Sporting Rifles (MSR) such as the AR15. The scope features a very large field of view, a very wide adjustment range, and weighs only 533g. The riflescope is complemented by a quick adjustment lever (throw lever) for magnification and a sunshade.

The AR-BDC3 reticle in the second focal plane is a well-designed and multifunctional reticle with various elevation and windage marks. Designed for .223 Remington up to 600m, it offers a illuminated aiming point with "horseshoe" and a simple, unobtrusive reticle. It is, of course, also usable for other calibers, but the holdover marks will then deviate from the specification and must be "zeroed." The tidy reticle covers little of the target, which clearly emphasizes the dynamic purpose - the scope can therefore also be used as a driven hunt scope, with the horseshoe aiding in shooting moving targets.
