The Holosun HS510C is a modern open reflex sight with a large field of view for use on long guns. Due to its reticle and generous lens, it is predestined for use on modern semi-automatic rifles for dynamic applications. With an optical axis of approximately 34mm, it meets the AR15 Co-Witness standard and can therefore be used with all common magnifiers and risers.

What makes this reflex sight special is a built-in supercapacitor - meaning that even if the battery is dead and the solar cell cannot produce power, the sight has a reserve of approximately 200 hours of illumination time (in dot mode)!

It uses a proprietary footprint, and a Picatinny mount with a quick-release lever is included - allowing the optic to be mounted directly, for example, on a bolt-action rifle or an AR15. As is typical for Holosun, the sight features a solar cell that powers the emitter - even when the battery is empty. The "Shake Awake" function is also included, meaning automatic on and off of the dot through motion sensors.

The reticle can be adjusted, as is typical for many Holosun models, and offers the shooter a simple 2 MOA dot (approximately 1.45cm/25m), a 65 MOA target circle (approximately 47.13cm/100m), and a combination of both - the reticle can only be adjusted in manual mode. Brightness can be manually set in 12 levels - of which 2 are night vision compatible - but the sight can also operate in automatic mode thanks to the light sensor. With the CR2032 battery, the sight achieves an illumination duration of up to 20,000 hours - depending on the setting. And if the battery does run out, the solar cell powers the sight.

Holosun was founded in 2013 in California but is a subsidiary of a Chinese conglomerate. Since the parent company specializes in electro-optical components, the manufacturer offers high-quality optics at a good price-performance ratio. A "trademark" of the company is the solar cell, which is found on almost all optics and allows the use of the sight even with a dead battery. The manufacturer was also one of the first to implement motion-activated activation in affordable optics. After modest beginnings, the company has established itself firmly in the civilian market within a few years and offers an extremely extensive range of reflex sights. Thermal optics, including special models for handguns, are now also part of the portfolio, and the first authorities and militaries are relying on optics from Holosun.
