The Hornady .50 BMG with 750gr A-Tip Match is probably the most long-range and ballistically sophisticated factory load on the market. Designed for long-range shooting beyond the 1,000 mark (yards or meters, it doesn't matter for ballistics), the .50 BMG, the famous 12.7x99, has enough energy to accelerate the 48.59-gram A-Tip projectile to over 850m/s at the muzzle with nearly 18,000 joules of kinetic energy. With a ballistic coefficient (G1) of over 1, the load offers a potential that tests and pushes the limits of the rest of the equipment.
The Hornady A-TIP projectile is the result of years of research and development by the in-house Hornady Ballistic Development Group. Designed as a precision projectile for long-range, the A-TIP offers extremely low air resistance, a very good ballistic coefficient, and a rearward-shifted center of gravity that increases flight stability. The projectile is characterized by its precision-turned and particularly long aluminum tip. This is responsible for the shifted center of gravity but also features a special design (DVRT - Drag Variability Reduction Technology) that provides a certain stabilization and equalization of the flow resistance - resulting in lower deviations from projectile to projectile and thus consistent and repeatable shot groups even at great distances.
The .50 BMG - for Browning Machine Gun - was developed in 1918 as a response to the German 13mm cartridge of the first anti-tank rifle. Too late for use in World War I, the cartridge was primarily used in heavy machine guns until after the other World War when the potential for civilian long-range shooting was utilized. In metric terms, the cartridge is known as 12.7x99.

The Hornady Manufacturing Company was founded in 1949 by Joyce Hornady and, in addition to the original auto body manufacturing, also began developing bullets for reloaders. This latter sector was initially scoffed at by many, but according to the first company slogan "Accurate, Deadly, Dependable," hunting enthusiasts were quickly impressed by the excellent quality, and the steadily growing success has continued to this day. The family business offers an incredibly wide range of almost all common calibers and ammunition variants for hunting, sport shooting, or the military. Hornady ammunition is absolutely precise, repeatable with perfect ballistics. When it comes to premium ammunition, Hornady is hard to overlook today.
Warning: Danger from fire or shrapnel, explosive and projectile fragments. Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames, and other sources of ignition. No smoking.
