The Luth-AR Carbine Buffer Tube Mil-Spec offers the possibility to replace an existing Commercial Carbine Buffer Tube (with a slightly larger diameter). Mil-Spec has a diameter of 2.91cm (1.146") while Commercial has a diameter of 2.97cm (1.170") - this marginal difference is enough that a Mil-Spec stock does NOT fit on a Commercial Buffer Tube. Since Mil-Spec has become the standard, many manufacturers now produce their stocks only in this standard.

Please note:
Mil-Spec and Commercial Carbine Buffer Tubes otherwise use the same components (Castle Nut, Buffer Retainer Pin, etc.) and utilize the same Buffer & Buffer Spring. If a Rifle Buffer Tube was previously mounted, new Buffer & Buffer Spring are required.
