The Smith & Wesson Performance Center SW1911 4.25" is a compact 1911 variant and a modern interpretation of the classic "Commander" models. Tuned at the factory in the Performance Center, S&W's in-house tuning shop, this firearm offers a more compact platform than a standard "Government" 1911 but still uses the standard grip and magazines. The grip is made from "Scandium," a scandium-aluminum alloy, making it significantly lighter than a steel grip while maintaining high strength. Additionally, the slide is kept lighter through generous cutouts. The entire system has been revised, including a polished feed ramp, a precisely recessed muzzle, and a round bushing that ensure excellent precision.

Other high-quality features include fine yet aggressive checkering on the grip with over 30 lines per inch and ambidextrous safety. The beavertail is enlarged, allowing for a high grip and easier one-handed relaxation.

A compact 1911 with familiar functionality, it is suitable for hunters as a backup weapon, especially for those who appreciate the 1911 design and its handling. With enough energy thanks to the .45 ACP "fat and slow."
