The legendary EOTECH HWS 552 is the classic among holographic sights and has been the first widely used military version in service since 2001. These high-quality and robust optics use a laser to create a holographic, 3-dimensional reticle made up of multiple points - a technique that, as the manufacturer states, originates from military aviation.

The models of the 5xx series are on par with the younger siblings of the XPS & EXPS series in their performance data, with the primary difference being the use of AA cells, which gives rise to the characteristic long nose of the sight. The height of the optical axis is 38mm, just like the XPS models. Alkaline, lithium, and rechargeable AA cells with 1.5V can be used - the lifespan of the various battery types is more than twice as long as that of the sister models with a single CR123 cell.

The Model 552 features 20 brightness levels for daytime use and 10 additional NV-compatible brightness levels for nighttime use and with night vision devices. The controls are located on the back of this model, which means that a magnification module requires more distance from the sight.
