BD 42/II Paratrooper Rifle FG42 Original Replica

The BD 42/II from Sport Systeme Dittrich is an authentic replica of the FG42 from the second mass-produced generation. You can't get closer to the original - the same manufacturing methods and, where possible, the same types of steel were used as in the original. All parts were manufactured as in the original: stamped, formed, forged, or milled and tempered as well as coated. All forged parts were forged in a die, the housing, magazine well, grip, and various small parts are made using sheet metal forming techniques. Everything is produced in-house in Kulmbach, except for the Bakelite grip panels.

The FG42 was developed to provide paratroopers with a universal weapon; the desired all-in-one solution was meant to replace the K98k, the K98k with scope, the MG34 (and later the MG42), and the submachine guns 38 & 40. It was light enough to allow for precise shoulder shots but equipped with a bipod. And it was also supposed to have a bayonet. Krieghoff developed the weapon in two main variants; the first version features a metal stock and a pistol grip with a very flat angle - the more well-known second version has a wooden stock, a pistol grip with a normal steep angle, and is overall a bit bulkier and heavier.

The side-mounted magazine stands out, which originally had a capacity of 20 rounds but is currently delivered with a legally compliant capacity of 10 rounds. While the original functioned in semi-automatic mode firing and in fully automatic mode cycling for better cooling, the offered replica only provides the semi-automatic mode - unless you have the appropriate authorization, then SSD can also manufacture the weapon in its original condition. The FG42 / BD42 features a folding diopter sight with BDC and a folding bipod. The bayonet is included and can simply be reversed into the mount when not in use to disappear under the bipod. The top of the housing has its own dovetail mount for the installation of optics. Thanks to the buffered stock and the straight recoil, the weapon is very pleasant to shoot and precise.
