The BD 44 from Sport Systeme Dittrich is an authentic replica of the Stg 44 or MP 44. You can't get closer to the original - the same manufacturing methods and, where possible, the same types of steel were used as in the original. All parts were manufactured as in the original, stamped, formed, forged, or milled and tempered as well as coated. The front sight base, gas piston, gas block, and hammer are forged in a die, while the housing, handguard, grip, and various small parts are made using sheet metal forming techniques. All parts, including the grip panels and stock, are manufactured in-house in Kulmbach.
Developed from the "Maschinenkarabiner 42," the designation for models closer to the known variant was changed to "Maschinenpistole 43" or "44" - until the well-known and final name "Sturmgewehr 44" was introduced as a propaganda measure by political decision. The designation is still in use for this class of weapons, even in the English-speaking world as "assault rifle." The Stg 44 is a gas-operated rifle with a tilting block lock, and this civilian replica fires only semi-automatically.
Due to the age of the original weapon, this replica is approved for hunters and sport shooters! We deliver the BD 44 as standard with the large side mounting rail as intended for the ZF4, and with a dark-stained beech wood stock and grip.
Please note:
The claim of this weapon is that of a qualitatively and technically high-quality replica of a mass-produced military weapon from wartime production! It is not a high-gloss polished luxury rifle.
