The Mauser M98/38 Persia is a very interesting collector's item – it usually consists of Persian or Iranian Mauser systems based on the German M98, often with Czech production by Československá zbrojovka Brno in the 1930s. Historically, the Persian Mausers are considered to be of excellent quality – often even better than many German wartime productions. The Persian models frequently have Farsi markings, very clean bluing, and long barrels. The caliber 8x57JS (also known as 7.92x57 IS / 8mm Mauser) is the classic Mauser military caliber. The Mauser has a German nitro proof.
