In the 1950s, Switzerland was looking for a successor to replace the standard rifle of the Swiss Army, the straight-pull repeater K31.
The result was the Sturmgewehr 57, which was introduced as the standard long gun in the Swiss Army in 1958. In addition to the original caliber 7.5×55 Swiss, there were already versions in .308 Winchester caliber in the 1960s.
The weapon enjoyed a legendary reputation for its quality of workmanship and precision. These two advantages were utilized by Schwaben Arms GmbH in Rottweil to construct a high-quality sporting rifle from the former assault rifle.
However, the muzzle brake is not installed, unlike the original, due to the bull-barrel match barrel.
The very long sight line of 64 cm favors the conditions for achieving good results with open sights. Above the chamber, there is a chamber indicator on the top of the receiver that stands out clearly and is tactilely noticeable when a cartridge is in the chamber.
The cocking lever requires a firm grip, but it and the associated bolt glide into the respective end position like on proverbial rails.
By the way, after the last shot, the bolt does not remain open even with an empty magazine.
The trigger releases creep-free and scratch-free after a short take-up at the pressure point. With an average trigger weight of 2980 g, it is not overly light, but the good characteristics make the weight seem significantly lower.
The rifle is in very good condition as seen in the pictures.
Additionally, the original cleaning kit, the installed bipod, the original sling, and the accessories in the grip are included.
