Frankonia Mauser 98er hunting repeating rifle with Leupold VARI-X III 3.5-10x50 reticle 1 and Apel EAW SW mount. Powerful hunting rifle for sitting and driven hunts on large game such as boars and red deer. The caliber 9.3x62 with its performance reserve is excellently suited for the local high game area. Like-new barrel profile, mirror-polished grooves and sharp-edged lands. The classic 98er hunting rifle was manufactured by Frankonia in 1992 from original and new parts. The high-quality 98er system was produced by Mauser Oberndorf for Portugal in the late 1930s. The Portuguese coat of arms on the cartridge head is partially covered by the Zfr mounting base but is still recognizable. The following work has been carried out: A new 60 cm pear-shaped barrel has been inserted into the high-quality original Mauser system. The barrel is particularly high-quality hardened, as indicated by the reddish tint of the barrel bluing. The Mauser system has been revised as follows: For better mounting, the protrusion for the loading strip at the head of the system bridge has been flattened and the flanks decoratively chamfered. A 2-position safety, which can be easily operated with the thumb even with the scope mounted, has been integrated into the bolt. The system has been newly black blued, with reddish hardness spots on the side of the bridge. The bolt hold-down spring has been left in red gold. Material has been removed from the chamber handle with ball to save weight, and the chamber handle has been bent outward and backward for faster handling. The chamber has been polished to a shine. A fine direct trigger (similar to a shotgun trigger) with a set trigger has been installed. Original 98er box magazine, feeder with original chamber lock when the magazine is empty. Elegant hunting stock with Bavarian cheek piece made of dark oiled walnut with good grain. Buttstock with pig's back, Bavarian cheek piece with groove and ventilated 1 cm rubber cap. Forend and pistol grip with fine wood finish and Scottish fish skin. Pistol grip on the right side with more volume for a better grip and ivory-colored inlay in diamond shape. System bedding reinforced with recoil stud cross-screwing. With sling swivel. The hunting stock has been adjusted: The stock was intended for a longer system nose at the pistol grip. The recess has been closed with a dark lacquered, unfortunately only roughly finished wooden insert (see picture) and can be improved with careful reworking. Mounted is a variable scope Leupold VARI-X III 3.5-10x50 reticle 1 with Apel EAW swivel mount with inch rings. Scope in well-maintained very good condition, image bright, clear, and sharp.
