Mauser Chilean Model 1895 Carbine (Musketon)

Mauser Chileno Modelo 1895 Kurzgewehr (Musketon). Collector's rarity for ordinance shooters. Early version from 1895 still marked with prefix B and Manufactura Loewe Berlin. Only from 1896 were the rifles marked with Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken. In the system with stock from the Kurzgewehr, a chamber with curved chamber handle from the Carbine model was used. Barrel profile matte, grooves and lands but pronounced. In the extraordinary pre-war quality of Loewe Berlin (DWM) made for Chile. Two short versions were delivered. The version Kurzgewehr with straight chamber handle was for the Chilean Army. The short version Carabiner with curved chamber handle was issued to the Chilean Carabineros, a semi-military elite unit of the Chilean police. Elaborately crafted carabiner blued with 56 cm barrel. Sighting: High roof front sight protected by side sight wings mounted on front sight base with ring and sliding sight adjustable from 100 - 1400 m. The System 1895 is the direct predecessor of the System 98. Steel system with charger guide and without magazine safety. Chamber bright polished with curved chamber handle, side long extractor claw, lock with 3-position wing safety, side lock holder. Barrel, system sliding sight and remaining metal parts blued. Oiled walnut stock with very good grain, side wood sling swivels for cavalry and polished steel butt plate. Original stamp/inscription: On the left buttstock is the relief-embossed Chilean coat of arms. The Chilean coat of arms on the casing is recognizable in the outlines. On the side wall: MAUSER CHILENO MODELO 1895 MANUFACTURA LOEWE BERLIN. Stamped on the butt plate: 4 mark 10, of which 1 was over-stamped with 2. System casing and magazine box same S/N No. B763x, chamber A229x, cleaning rod A145x. Various other approvals on the small parts. The bluing is typical for drill exercises between muzzle and handguard and in the area of the trigger somewhat worn. Otherwise well-maintained, very good condition. Including cleaning rod.
