With family tradition "Ett Oma Elly," as the Rhinelanders say, it was she who created the unique recipe for the herbal liqueur: She loved to collect herbs in the forest as a young girl. One day, she discovered a herd of majestic red deer grazing at the edge of a clearing. Inspired by the deer, she returned again and again to this magical place, collected and tasted the herbs growing there, and pressed them as a keepsake in her poetry album. Only two generations later, her grandson Dirk Verpoorten discovers the old, now yellowed poetry album with the meticulously recorded liqueur recipe in the family inheritance. Fascinated by his find, he tries out the recipe and is absolutely thrilled. The taste convinces. In 2014, he decides to bring the herbal liqueur to market in small quantities, bottled by hand, and to give life to Grandma Elly's recipe. HirschRudel is made with love and emphasizes craftsmanship!
