PUMA TEC My Knife – The first own knife.
Our new PUMA TEC knife was not designed for our regular customers who are looking for a knife for hunting or other outdoor adventures. It is a fixed-blade knife specifically developed for children and teenagers between 9 and 14 years old. The PUMA TEC My Knife combines solid craftsmanship and safe handling with a concept that is unique: The handle truly belongs to the child.
The handle scales are made of clear acrylic and are attached on each side with two screws. They can be easily unscrewed. Between the handle scale and the blade lies an interchangeable image that visually designs the handle. Once a new favorite image is found, the screws are tightened again – and the knife looks completely new.
The package already includes several images, for example with horses, a puma of course, a jaguar, a tropical fish, or trucks. For those who prefer to create their own design, suitable templates are included. This way, children can draw, cut out, and insert their own motif – creativity included. This makes the PUMA TEC an expression of personal taste.
It has a blunt, rounded tip that minimizes the risk of injury. The knife comes with a high-quality black leather sheath with a snap closure that stores it safely and stylishly, just like many other PUMA knives.
The PUMA TEC My Knife is more than a tool. It is a companion that grows with the child, changes, and becomes very personal.
Included in the package: knife, black leather sheath, interchangeable motifs, and white painting templates.
Information for parents/adults: Safe from the very beginning
The proper handling of a knife needs to be learned. There are a few basic rules that children should internalize from the start.
The knife is always held by the handle – firmly, but without cramping. The free hand forms a so-called claw hand while cutting: The fingertips are curled, the knuckles point upwards, thus reliably protecting the fingers from the blade. Cutting is always done away from the body, never towards one's own hand or body.
These three basic rules – proper grip, claw hand, cutting direction – form the foundation for safe and confident handling of the knife.
Even children's knives should be stored in a safe place, out of reach of children. Regardless of the child's age or their safety in handling knives – supervision and guidance by adults remain essential. Do not leave the child alone with the knife and provide tips and guidance as needed.
We recommend an age between 9-14 years, but this also depends on the child's personal development.
