This pre-configured Outback setup of the Sauer 505 ErgoLux rifle features a heavy contour barrel that improves the oscillation behavior. With the Outback setup of the Sauer 505, the focus is on the robustness that a rifle needs for daily use under any hunting conditions. It has a class 3 ErgoLux wooden stock, a DLC coating on the barrel and housing, an anodized aluminum chamber grip ball, and a barrel with a heavy contour.
The Stock
Many hunters swear by the natural material wood for tactile reasons. The sophisticated shape of the ErgoLux walnut stock – here in wood class 3 – compensates for felt recoil and gives the rifle great stability, regardless of the shooting position. The cheek piece has been further optimized compared to previous versions, making your contact with the rifle even more organic. In combination with the ergonomic pistol grip, you will feel one with your Sauer 505 ErgoLux when taking a shot. The stock length is 36.5 cm.
The Steel Housing with DLC Coating
The solid steel housing allows for quieter cycling due to reduced friction losses and a smooth chambering. The surfaces of the housing are coated with a DLC coating. DLC stands for "Diamond Like Carbon." This type of coating is very environmentally friendly and biocompatible compared to galvanic coatings. Through a thin-film coating process, the coated components become particularly resistant and very smooth. The chamber grip ball is made of anodized aluminum in the Outback version.
The Manual Safety
The manual safety is both comfortable and secure. In the Sauer 505 model, it has undergone further development compared to its predecessors, both in terms of usability and safety. A longer cocking path requires even less effort. With a light thumb pressure, you can cock your rifle just before the shot, and just as easily relax it afterwards to unload.
The Trigger
The Sauer 505 rifle features a Quattro trigger with four weight settings. This allows the trigger to break crystal clear, and you have exactly the individually suitable trigger weight. Settings of 350 g, 750 g, 1,000 g, and 1,250 g are possible. The adjustment is made with the Sauer universal key while the fore-end is uncocked.
The Magazine
The polymer magazine is designed for the chosen calibers and holds 2, 3, or 5 cartridges depending on the version. An unintentional release of the magazine button is prevented by the integrated magazine safety MagLock.
The Barrel
The approximately 300 g heavier heavy contour barrel makes the Sauer 505 ErgoLux Outback front-heavy and ensures better oscillation behavior. Additionally, the inherent precision of the barrel increases, and recoil is reduced. The cold-hammered barrel without sights is equipped with an M17x1 thread for a suppressor. Its length varies between 47 cm and 62 cm depending on caliber and personal choice. The barrel of the Sauer 505 Outback is effectively protected against corrosion by a DLC coating, just like its other steel surfaces.
