The modular repeating rifle Sauer 505 ErgoLux complete with a heavy contour barrel for optimal oscillation behavior. The classic combination of wood and steel continues to impress. Sauer has brought these two materials together in its 505 ErgoLux repeating rifle – here the wood in stock class 3 – into a perfectly formed unit.
The Stock
Many hunters swear by the natural material wood for tactile reasons. The sophisticated shape of the ErgoLux walnut stock – here in wood class 3 – significantly compensates for perceived recoil and gives the rifle great stability, regardless of the shooting position you adopt. The cheek piece has been further optimized compared to previous versions, making your contact with the rifle even more organic. In conjunction with the ergonomic pistol grip, you will become one with your Sauer 505 ErgoLux when you shoot. The stock length is 36.5 cm.
The Steel Housing
The solid steel housing allows for quieter cycling due to reduced friction losses and a smooth chambering. The surfaces of the housing are effectively protected against corrosion by plasma nitriding.
The Manual Safety
The manual safety is both comfortable and secure. In the Sauer 505 model, it has undergone further development compared to predecessor models, both in terms of usability and safety. An extension of the cocking path requires even less effort. With a light thumb pressure, you can cock your rifle just before the shot, and just as easily relax it afterwards to perform the unloading.
The Trigger
The Sauer 505 features a Quattro trigger with four weight settings. The trigger breaks crystal clear, and you have exactly the individually suitable trigger weight. Settings of 350 g, 750 g, 1,000 g, and 1,250 g are possible. The adjustment is made with the Sauer universal key when the fore-end is uncocked.
The Magazine
The polymer magazine is designed for the chosen calibers and holds 2, 3, or 5 cartridges depending on the version. An unintentional release of the magazine button is prevented by the integrated magazine safety MagLock.
The Barrel
The approximately 300 g heavier heavy contour barrel makes the Sauer 505 ErgoLux front-heavy and ensures better oscillation behavior. Additionally, the inherent precision of the barrel increases, and the recoil is lower. The cold-hammered barrel without sights is fluted. This offers the advantage that the enlarged surface area of the barrel due to the fluting dissipates heat more quickly, so that even with high shot sequences, no disturbing heat mirage occurs. Another advantage of the fluting is the weight reduction. The barrel is equipped with an M17x1 thread for a suppressor. Its length varies between 47 cm and 62 cm depending on caliber and personal choice. The barrel, made from a steel specially developed by Sauer, is plasma nitrided and has a hardened coating of 0.1 mm. Inside, it retains a soft steel core. This leads to optimal oscillation, which is why Sauer guarantees a precision of under one MOA. To protect against corrosion, it is additionally blued.
