CCI TNT JHP 17grs 50St .17HMR

CCI TNT JHP 17grs 50St
The CCI TNT .17 HMR is legendary for its explosive effect. Equipped with the 17 Grains Speer TNT® hollow point bullet, this cartridge was developed for a single purpose: maximum destruction on target with the highest precision. With a stunning speed of 2550 fps (approx. 777 m/s), it is so fast that the trajectory remains almost straight up to 150 meters. If you want to buy .17 HMR ammunition that defines the word "Varmint," the TNT Green (often also available lead-free, but here the classic JHP variant is described, unless "Green" is in the name - CSV only says "TNT JHP") is the reference.

Application & Target Group (EN)
The special tool for long distances on small targets.

Pest control (crows/magpies): The TNT bullet (Thin Jacketed Hollow Point) disintegrates almost into powder upon impact. This ensures immediate killing effect ("feather cloud") and minimizes ricochets extremely reliably.
Long-range training: Due to the high V0, wind drift is less than with .22 WMR. This makes it ideal for training shooting at 100 to 200 meters.
Safety: The disintegration characteristic makes it a safer choice in rocky terrain, as ricochets are rare.

Recommendations for Distance
Laser-like trajectory:

Sport shooting (precision): Optimized for 100 to 150 meters. At 100 meters, group sizes under 2 cm are not uncommon.
Zeroing: 100 meters spot shooting. At 50 meters, it shoots only slightly high.
Maximum effective range: Can be reliably used up to 200 meters on crow-sized targets (with little wind).

Features & Performance
The .17 HMR is the most precise rimfire caliber. The CCI TNT uses premium propellants for minimal residue. The bullet is designed not to penetrate deeply but to release its energy immediately on the surface.

Comparison & Alternatives
Compared to the V-Max (with polymer tip), the TNT is a classic hollow point. The effect is very similar (explosive), but some barrels prefer the TNT in terms of precision over the V-Max.

Purchase only with valid acquisition authorization (EWB). Sale only to persons over 18 years. Warning: Not suitable for game that is to be utilized (high game meat destruction).

FAQ
Is it wind-sensitive?
Less than a .22 WMR, but with crosswind at 150m, you need to correct for the light 17grs bullet.
Can I use it for foxes?
Only at very short distances and with headshots. For body shots, it often lacks the depth effect. We recommend .22 WMR or .22 Hornet for this.

Conclusion / Purchase Argument
The CCI TNT .17 HMR is pure speed. If you need to pulverize small targets at great distances, this is your cartridge.
