Compact and lightweight, the thermal imaging attachment Orion O435CS from Guide impresses with its excellent thermal differentiation capability.Guide has optimally coordinated the hardware and software in its thermal imaging attachments of the Orion C series. In the ApexVision-S1 system architecture, the sensor and the image-generating algorithms form a powerful unit. The ApexCore-S1 detector and the Nexus-1.0 platform capture objects fluidly and without ghosting, even when the object moves quickly. The AI-supported Hyper-Light 2.0, in turn, delivers contrast-rich and detailed images from the captured data, allowing for target identification and optimal shot placement. The thermal imaging attachment Orion O435CS is the affordable entry-level model.
The Sensor
The 400×300 px sensor with a 12 μm pixel pitch and an excellent NETD value of ≤15 mK detects even the smallest temperature differences in combination with the 35 mm F0.9 lens, even when fog, rain, or snow cause humidity to "blur" the temperatures of the game and its surroundings. The detection range is 1,800 m, with a field of view of 13x10 m at 100 m.
The Display
The Orion O435CS features a 0.39-inch display with a resolution of 1,024x768 px. The menu navigation is intuitive, with 7 color palettes available depending on the hunting situation and personal preferences: White Hot, Black Hot, Red Hot, Green Hot, Iron Red, Blue Hot, and Sepia. The object is displayed with a latency of only 26 ms, almost in real-time, significantly reducing the risk of missed shots. The Hyper-Light 2.0 AI algorithm generates AI-supported brilliant, detailed images, with contrast and brightness optimally adapting to the environment. Potential targets are highlighted and thus remain in view. The display reduces eye strain during longer operations.
The Device
Weighing only 285 g, the Orion O435CS is a lightweight that hardly affects the balance of the rifle. It is suitable for almost all calibers with a shock resistance of up to 6,000. 5 correction profiles can be stored. It is waterproof and dustproof according to IP67 standard. After pressing the power button, the attachment is ready for use in 3 seconds. With its simply and logically placed buttons and the large precise focusing wheel, operation is intuitive, even in cold weather and with gloves. The device is powered by 1 rechargeable 18500 battery. Its charge lasts for up to 8 hours, and swapping with the included spare battery can be done in no time. The Orion devices have an M33.5x0.75 thread.
