Description

The Sauer 505 ErgoLux Highland bolt-action rifle with the noble-luxurious wooden stock – here in the left-handed version – combines ballistic precision with timeless elegance

Since 1751, Sauer has been manufacturing one generation of rifles after another in the highest quality. Beyond the precision of the rifles, a constant has been the wooden stocks, which remain very popular even with the advent of new materials. Accordingly, the 505 rifle is also available in versions with various wooden stocks. These, combined with a solid steel housing and a cold-hammered barrel, make the lightweight and maneuverable Sauer 505 ErgoLux Highland a hunting rifle that impresses all around.

The Stock
Many hunters swear by the natural material wood for tactile reasons. Sauer offers the ErgoLux stock made of walnut in various wood classes, and here for shooters who shoot left-handed. Its sophisticated shape significantly compensates for felt recoil and gives the rifle great stability, regardless of the shooting position you adopt. The cheek piece has been further optimized compared to previous versions, so your contact with the rifle feels even more organic. In combination with the ergonomic pistol grip, you will feel one with your Sauer 505 when you shoot.

The System with DLC Coating
The heart of the Sauer 505 bolt-action rifle, its system, consists of a solid steel housing and a one-piece steel bolt. Steel has significantly lower friction losses compared to aluminum. Therefore, with the system of the Sauer 505, you experience an incredibly smooth chambering and quiet cycling. The surfaces of the system and the bolt are coated with a DLC coating. DLC stands for “Diamond Like Carbon.” This type of coating is very environmentally friendly and biocompatible compared to galvanic coatings. Through a thin-film coating process, the coated components are made particularly resistant and very smooth. The subtly knurled chamber grip ball is made of anodized aluminum.

The Manual Safety
In the development of the Sauer 505, the manual safety has been further improved, both in terms of usability and safety. By extending the safety travel, you need to exert even less force. With a light thumb pressure, you can engage your rifle immediately before the shot, and just as easily disengage it for unloading.

The Trigger
The proven Quattro trigger with its four possible weight settings has also been implemented in the Sauer 505 bolt-action rifle. With the right setting for you, you can be sure that the trigger breaks crystal clear and that you have the precisely suitable trigger weight. In the Sauer 505 rifle, the lowest setting has been further reduced from 500 g to 350 g. The other resistances are, as with the Sauer 404 rifle, 750 g, 1,000 g, and 1,250 g. The adjustment is made with the Sauer universal key when the fore-end is pulled back. Thanks to this option, you can be sure that the trigger is always dry and free of play, minimizing the risk of a shot going awry.

The Barrel
The barrel of the Sauer 505 is cold-hammered and ensures an extremely precise shot. The muzzle diameter is standardly 17 mm, and the muzzle is equipped with an M15x1 thread for a suppressor. The Sauer 505 ErgoLux Highland bolt-action rifle comes with a fluted barrel. The increased surface area of the barrel due to the fluting dissipates heat faster, so that even with high shot sequences, no disturbing mirage occurs. Another advantage is a reduction in weight. The barrel lengths range between and 62 cm. The corrosion protection of the barrel is also a DLC coating.

Maga
zin
The magazine of the Sauer 505 rifle is made of polymer, which makes it lighter. The base is also made of plastic. The magazine is designed for the chosen calibers and holds 2+1, 3+1, or 5+1 cartridges depending on the version. An accidental release of the magazine button is prevented by the integrated magazine safety MagLock.
