The lightweight and maneuverable Sauer 505 Artemis rifle in the Highland version is particularly tailored to the needs of female hunters who shoot left-handed
The namesake of this Highland version of the Sauer 505 bolt-action rifle is Artemis, the Greek goddess of hunting. There is a reason for this, as the Sauer 505 Artemis rifle is specifically designed for female hunters who shoot left-handed. The Sauer 505 rifle is characterized by its DLC-coated housing made of solid steel.
The Stock
The features of the Artemis wooden stock – here in the left-handed version – include its compact dimensions, the steeply rising drop at the rear, a slender pistol grip, and the reduced distance from the shooting hand to the trigger. This special ergonomic design addresses the needs of the female physique, regardless of the shooting position the hunter uses to aim at the target. The body remains relaxed while aiming and shooting, preventing tension. This significantly increases accuracy. The stock is made of walnut and is offered in a wood grade of choice.
The System with DLC Coating
The components of the Sauer 505 rifle system are made of solid steel, including both the housing and the one-piece bolt. Steel has a significant advantage over aluminum in that it produces much less friction. Therefore, with the Sauer 505 system, you experience an exceptionally smooth chambering and quiet cycling. The surfaces are DLC-coated, making them particularly smooth and durable. The chamber grip ball is made of anodized aluminum and subtly knurled.
The Manual Safety
The manual safety is highly comfortable and secure at the same time. The Sauer 505 model has seen further development compared to its predecessors, both in terms of usability and safety. An extension of the cocking path requires even less effort, which is also beneficial for female hunters. With a light thumb pressure, you can cock your rifle immediately before the shot, and just as easily relax it afterward to unload.
The Trigger
The Sauer 505 features a Quattro trigger with four weight settings, ensuring that the trigger breaks cleanly and you have the individually suitable trigger weight. Settings of 350 g, 750 g, 1,000 g, and 1,250 g are possible. The adjustment is made with the Sauer universal key while the fore-end is uncocked. A precisely adjusted trigger prevents jerking during the shot and missing the target.
The Barrel
The cold-hammered barrel of the Sauer 505 allows for extremely precise results. The muzzle diameter is standardly 17 mm, and the muzzle is equipped with an M15x1 thread for a suppressor. The Sauer 505 bolt-action rifle is delivered in the Highland version with a barrel featuring a fluted profile. The increased surface area due to the fluting dissipates heat more quickly, preventing disturbing mirage even during rapid fire. Another advantage of fluting is weight reduction. Barrel lengths range from 47 cm to 62 cm. The barrel is also DLC-coated and comes without sights.
The Magazine
The magazine of the Sauer 505 rifle is made of polymer, which reduces weight. The magazines are each designed for the chosen calibers and hold either 2, 3, or 5 cartridges, depending on the version. An unintentional release of the magazine button is prevented by the integrated magazine safety MagLock.
