Artisancutlery Inc. (United States)
ArtisanCutlery was founded in 2018 as a US company based in California. However, the actual production facility of Artisan is located in YangJiang, China, where knives have been manufactured on behalf of many well-known foreign knife brands since 2004. Due to this acquired long-standing experience in knife manufacturing, as well as a state-of-the-art CNC machine park, knives of the highest quality in various price segments have been produced here for many years.
The range of ArtisanCutlery extends from affordable basic knives to absolute high-tech models. The manufacturer relies on its own design language and collaborates with well-known US designers. Various materials such as stainless steel, G-10, Micarta, carbon, and titanium are used for the handle material.
In 2019, the CJRB brand was brought to life as a little brother and budget-oriented brand of ArtisanCutlery. The CJRB models were on par in terms of quality but initially refrained from using the more expensive imported steels. CJRB then made a big hit with the Pyrite model, which became an absolute bestseller and is now available in numerous variants. In addition to perfectly functioning liner lock and bolt lock mechanisms, ceramic ball bearings are used for blade guidance in almost all models, allowing for a very smooth action when opening and closing.
Artisan/CJRB uses the following knife steels for its knives:
Entry-level: D2, AR-RPM9, Sandvik 12C27
Mid-range: S35V, Damascus
High-end: S90V, Böhler M390
The powder metallurgy AR-RPM9 steel developed specifically for ArtisanCutlery in 2020 is now surpassing the well-known and frequently used D2 in the entry-level class. It is considered to be very corrosion-resistant, has good edge retention, and is easy to sharpen. Unlike D2, it is produced using a powder metallurgy process and has a fine grain structure for good sharpness.
The models from ArtisanCutlery/CJRB are usually available with different steels and handle materials, which significantly affects the price. As a customer, you can therefore consciously choose your personal price limit when selecting a knife. The model number and the steel used are laser-engraved on each knife. In particular, knives from the ArtisanCutlery brand are sometimes delivered with very high-quality nylon pouches, which further enhances the value of the knives.
We have been convinced by the manufacturing and processing quality of the manufacturer and have decided to include the ArtisanCutlery/CJRB brands in our distribution program. The extensive product range will represent a significant expansion of our assortment, especially in the entry-level segment.
