Description

German Steel Helmet 1916 is an authentic reproduction of the Wehrmacht helmet worn in World War I. It features a leather inner helmet with an aluminum ring, which is cushioned with foam rubber up to the bell. The chin straps are made of leather.

The German Steel Helmet of 1916 was a field headgear worn by German soldiers during the First World War. Officially referred to as the “Stahlhelm,” it served to protect the head against flying debris and gunfire. In 1916, the first M1916 variants were introduced, which were further optimized throughout the course of the war. Characteristic was the three-part shape with a wide, backward-sloping brim designed to protect against head injuries from impacts and shrapnel.
