From a young age, he was introduced to hunting by his father – a passionate hunter and successful shooter in the discipline of Olympic Trap. He quickly developed a high level of shooting skill and hunting precision.
His great passion is for driven hunts, particularly for wild boar. With his exceptional shooting technique, his instinct for game, and his lived hunting ethics, he has made a name for himself across Europe. Today, he is considered one of the most well-known and skilled hunters in Europe, who combines tradition with modern hunting methods.
With great passion and dedication, we have been crafting hunting knives of the highest quality for over two and a half centuries. Many PUMA knives have since become true classics and are among the rarities sought not only by users but especially by collectors. One of these special models is our “Verlängerungsmesser,” which we produced in the 1930s to 1950s. We have now decided to reintroduce this model, also known as “Saustecher” due to its original purpose. The PUMA Verlängerungsmesser features a foldable, 19 cm long blade made of stainless 440C steel (57–58 HRC). When folded, the blade extends significantly beyond the end of the handle, allowing it to be used for finer tasks as well. The movable guard element ("Swing Guard") lies flat against the handle and swings in front of the handle when the blade is opened, reliably protecting the knife-hand during actions such as intercepting game. Additionally, the “Verlängerungsmesser” has a foldable lever that serves as a safety and release for the blade, which is marked with retro lettering. Selected stag horn scales and a perfectly fitting leather belt sheath complete this beautifully crafted product.
In this extraordinary Franz-Albrecht zu Oettingen-Spielberg (FAOS) edition, you will receive the PUMA Verlängerungsmesser with a cognac-colored leather sheath. On the back of the main blade, you will also find the FAOS logo and an individual numbering of the knife (the knives are consecutively numbered. The numbers are assigned upon receipt of the order. Therefore, a selection of the number is not possible).
§ 42a WaffG compliant: The original PUMA “Verlängerungsmesser” is a two-handed utility knife that locks when opened and closed. It is therefore free to possess and may be carried in public without special reason, both in the open and closed state.
