Using a fire steel
To create sparks with a fire steel (also known as a fire starter) and a knife, you need some practice. Hold the fire steel firmly in one hand and place the sharp back of the knife blade (the notch at the front of the blade) – not the edge – at an angle of about 90 degrees against the steel. Pull the knife down over the fire steel with even, strong pressure. This will create hot metal particles that will fly off as sparks. Aim these sparks at a prepared tinder nest made of dry materials such as birch bark, cotton, or dry grass.
The knife is delivered in a custom-fit Kydex sheath with steel clips that provide secure hold. The Kydex sheath can then be attached variably to the belt or gear. The integrated drainage hole prevents moisture accumulation and makes cleaning easier. Whether at the campfire or in the wilderness – this knife is a reliable companion that combines strength, style, and functionality in any situation.
Please note: D2 is a semi-stainless outdoor steel, which achieves better cutting ability. It is possible for the steel to rust if not properly maintained. Please clean the knife after use and oil it before storing it for an extended period.
