For this purpose, PUMA produced between 1,000 and 2,000 units with a special hook blade on the back of the blade: a rescue hook with belt cutter grind, specifically designed for the rapid cutting of seat belts and ropes in emergency situations. The production of this legendary rescue knife was discontinued more than 50 years ago – yet its DNA lives on in the Annual Knife 2023. The distinctive rescue hook on the back of the blade is directly modeled after this historical prototype, making the Annual Knife 2023 not only a collector's item but also a functional legacy of one of the most fascinating chapters in Solingen's knife history.
