The trigger guard has been slightly recessed above the middle finger, allowing for a high grip on the handle. As a result, in combination with the proven ergonomically shaped grip, the PPQ 45 can be shot very comfortably even in rapid series and presses significantly less into the hand than, for example, pistols with metal frames. This is especially noticeable for shooters with small to medium-sized hands, who otherwise have problems with other .45 ACP pistols: The grip circumference of the PPQ45 is only one millimeter larger than that of the PPQ in 9 mm Luger, and the distance between the trigger and the backstrap is the same 72 millimeters. As with the 9 mm version, the grip circumference can be further adjusted with the two interchangeable backstraps (M and L).
